Kratom has a long and complex history. However, it’s still a fairly new experience for most of the western world. This has led to a lot of confusion about specific strains of kratom, and what one might expect from them. First and foremost, it’s best to clear up a major misconception which many people have about the plant. Many people think of it as if it was a drug. While kratom contains psychoactive compounds, it’s not itself a drug.
Kratom is a plant, which produces a number of different mind altering substances within itself. Equally important, the exact concentration and ratio of these substances can vary quite a bit between strains. Because of this, every strain of kratom comes with unique effects. People often ask for the most powerful strain of kratom. And that’s the wrong way to look at the plant. There is no single strain which one could classify as the strongest form of kratom. Instead, there’s particular strains which create the strongest focus on one aspect of the plant.
Maeng Da is a strain that would fit most people’s definition of the “strongest form of kratom”. Again, this isn’t really an accurate description. But it’s sometimes important to be able to know what people mean, even if they’re not using the correct terminology. Maeng Da is one of the best strains for evoking euphoria. And this euphoric state is what most new users are looking for.
Enhanced Bali Kratom powder is a good choice for people looking for something closer to the feeling of cracking open a few beers to relax. Obviously the effects are more powerful than a couple beers would be. However, the principle behind it is similar. Bali is a strain for people looking to just relax and escape from the stress of the world. While there will usually be some sense of euphoria as well, the strain is heavily focused on pure relaxation. It’s the feeling of a late night in a hot tub, a great massage, and the most comfortable chair in the world all rolled into one amazing plant.
Malaysian Kratom is a great strain for pain management. Every person is different, as is their relation to pain. As such, it can be somewhat difficult to really rate painkillers on an objective level. That said, malaysian is in some ways more effective than legally restricted painkillers. One of the most significant reasons also comes down to the nature of different strains. The ratio of compounds in the malaysian strain is heavily weighted for the ability to numb one to pain, while also keeping the sedative properties somewhat low. Because of this, many people report that they’re able to remain more active on the malaysian strain of kratom than they would with traditional opiates. More alert, but still enjoying the same level of pain reduction.
Thai is a special case which requires some additional explanation. Thai kratom is very common, and one of the cheapest. This is nice for people who enjoy it. However, if someone says kratom doesn’t do anything for them, it’s probably because they wound up with thai kratom without knowing it. It’s quite effective for producing a state of calm alertness. That said, calm alertness isn’t what most new users expect from kratom. And often times they’re so eager for either euphoria or a nice mellow feeling that the alertness of thai kratom goes totally unnoticed while they’re waiting for other effects. Unfortunately, if kratom isn’t labeled by strain than it’s probably thai. And while thai kratom is fantastic for a specific purpose, it’s not the purpose most new users are looking for. Which is another reason why it’s important to understand the nature of the various strains, and which one personally prefers.
